The Application Engineer configures, implements and documents applications that provide the technical solutions to meet specifications and business requirements defined by company objectives to promote effective, efficient, and compliant operations. In this role you are the expert for one or multiple applications that serve our business.
This position is within the operations team responsible for the implementation and successful operation of a variety of platforms and applications in the enterprise data space.
A person that would be successful in this role would be:
· Experienced in the implementation and management of commercial platforms and solutions. Highly desirable are components of the Microsoft Azure data platform (e.g., Synapse, Microsoft purview and Microsoft Fabric) and/or reporting platforms such as SAP business objects or Power BI
· Comfortable in developing and implementing processes and standards for activities such as access control, patching and license management.
· Proven ability to collaborate with experts across networking, security, platform administration, and data engineering, leveraging their expertise to resolve complex issues.
Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions/Duties
· Deploy and Configure Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Software:
Lead the deployment and initial configuration of enterprise applications on commercial platforms, ensuring alignment with operational and business requirements.
· Monitor and Maintain Application Performance
Oversee the health and performance of COTS applications, proactively addressing performance issues, capacity challenges, and potential system bottlenecks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
· Collaborate on Platform Setup and Integration
Partner with networking, security, platform administrators, and data engineering teams to set up and integrate COTS solutions, ensuring they are fully functional within the enterprise data environment.
· Support and Optimize Platform Updates:
Coordinate the installation of patches, upgrades, and enhancements for COTS software, ensuring these changes are efficiently implemented without disrupting business operations.
· Document Installation and Operational Procedures
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the setup, configuration, and operational processes of the COTS platforms, ensuring that the operations team can effectively manage and troubleshoot the environment.
Qualifications:Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other related degree; or experience of such kind and amount as to provide a comparable background.
· Proven experience in a similar role within an operations or enterprise IT environment, ideally working with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
· 5+ years of experience in application support, platform deployment, or systems administration, with a focus on enterprise-level applications and solutions.
Physical Requirements:
· Location: This role is a hybrid position. Candidate must reside within 2 hours via car of the Cook Medical location and is required to work onsite as needed per Manager expectations.
· Works under general office environment conditions
· Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, equipment, etc.
· Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA
· Requires occasional early morning or late evening teleconferences
· International and domestic travel as required
