About the Job
Pappageorge Haymes Partners (PH) is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and motivated Architectural Associate to join our collaborative team. In this role, you'll contribute to a wide range of exciting urban and architectural projects, assisting in the design and development process from concept to completion. You’ll work closely with project teams, engaging in problem-solving, refining design details, and producing high-quality drawings and documentation. Our firm aims to involve Architectural Associates in all phases of a project, which may include the following:
Assist with preliminary feasibility studies and schematic design work
- Work under the collaborative direction of Project Architect, Project Manager, and Senior Designer to assist in the development of design concepts that respond to objectives
- Develop a project's program into alternative conceptual design proposals. Participate and contribute to design discussions, idea generation, and design work. This may include the preparation of sketches, drawings, and 3D software models of proposed designs
- Presentation preparation and organization, including the development of renderings, colored elevations, and supplemental design exhibits
- Assisting senior staff in color and materials board preparations and other requirements of the entitlement process
- Maintaining graphic and branding standards in design content
- Attend client meetings to observe the overall process and develop presentation skills
Assist with the development and preparation of Design Development and Construction Documents
- Work closely with team members and assist to complete projects on often aggressive schedules by meeting deadlines within expected time and budget constraints
- Research building codes, product information, and existing drawings
- Involved in coordination for internal team members and consultants
- Maintain appropriate communication with coworkers, contractors, and clients via phone/e-mail
- Generate revisions and corrections from outline mock-ups, redlined drawings and project document sets
Assist with Bidding and Construction Administration
- Participate in construction site visits and OAC meetings to better understand the construction process
- Recognize and document conflicts that arise during construction and offer alternatives to resolve these issues
- Attend meetings for the following pre-bid, progress and project close-out
Supplemental responsibilities and opportunities
- Maintaining and updating the materials library
- Participation in office initiatives, including lunch and learns, design conversations, and office forums
Job Requirements:
- Completed a five-year architectural degree or Masters in Architecture
- 1 - 3 years of relevant experience in architecture and design
- Has a strong design portfolio
- Ability to develop, communicate and present design concepts to their team
- Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
