Role Overview
Vessel is seeking an experienced architect with a strong background in multifamily design and prefabrication strategies to join our team as a Product Designer. This unique role focuses on improving Vessel's current product line and expanding it into new categories. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and BIM management, to translate innovative design concepts into viable, compliant products. Vessel design team members have the unique opportunity to invest their skills in the design of the first transformative apartment design concept in over 100 years, impacting the quality of life for hardworking Americans who have lost faith in the American dream due to the ongoing housing crisis. This position differs from a traditional architectural consultancy role,as it involves working for a single client—Vessel. The focus is on continuous improvement of one product line, requiring deep intellectual, creative, and technical engagement.
This position is intellectually and creatively demanding. Applicants must be prepared to work intensively on one product line. The architect will be part of a collaborative team focused on continual improvement and innovation within a single-client environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Explore enhancements to Vessel's existing product line.
- Lead efforts to expand the product line into new categories.
- Investigate the applicability of new building products and materials for future use.
- Ensure designs comply with building codes across multiple jurisdictions, addressing multifamily housing standards and prefabrication techniques.
- Lead efforts to incorporate green building technologies, universal design principles, and accessibility standards into Vessel's product offerings.
- Work to ensure compliance with sustainability certifications and energy-efficient building practices.
- Solicit feedback from end users, incorporating insights into the product design process for ongoing improvements. - Coordinate closely with Vessel's manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure design concepts are technically and commercially viable.
- Work closely with Vessel's BIM management teams to streamline the transition from design to construction documentation.
- Investigate and recommend new technologies, materials, and construction methods to improve Vessel's product line.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Architecture.
- Licensed architect with 5+ years of experience in multifamily residential design and prefabrication strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes across various jurisdictions, especially in multifamily housing.
- Experience in sustainable design, universal design, and accessibility.
- Proficiency with BIM software (e.g., Revit).
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and BIM management.
- **Creative and Practical Thinking:** Applicants must be able to marry raw creativity with highly detailed, practical, and manufacturable solutions. This position is **not** for conceptual specialists; the ideal candidate should balance design innovation with hands-on technical feasibility.

- Ability to handle complex projects with attention to detail and quality.
- Excellent communication skills for soliciting user feedback and coordinating acros teams. to green building principles and emerging technologies.
- Ability to adapt to the unique demands of working on long-term product design rather than multiple short-term projects.
In compliance with NYC's pay transparency law and in pursuit of pay equity and fairness, the target salary range for this role is $150,000-$170,000 per annum based on experience and qualifications.
The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include an annual bonus, participation in our stock option program, and generous benefits.
