SCOPE OF WORK
Under general supervision, the Area Sales Manager position is in charge of sales strategies in all market segments with a focus on maximizing the total hotel room & banquet revenue.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accountable for meeting hotel sales targets set by Corporate.
- Make personal sales calls.
- Implement approved sales plan and action steps as directed.
- Develop and search for potential markets for hotels.
- Develop, create, and implement innovative Sales and Marketing techniques.
- Execute and distribute all in-house advertising and promotional campaigns.
- Maintain competitive analysis statistical information.
- Maintain current filing system on company accounts and prepare required reports.
- Contact current meeting planners to promote goodwill and foster additional and repeat business.
- Maintain good rapport with local civic groups and associations.
- Prepare reports as requested: Sales Call Reports, Internal Sales Report.
- Attend and lead Sales meetings with the team.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and sales meetings.
- Complete projects as determined by the Regional Director & General Manager.
- Take responsibility for the implementation of sales plans. Monitor plans’ effectiveness and introduce changes in response to the marketplace, including setting targets, planning, and scheduling work and performance indicators that are typically productivity and efficiency measures.
- Work in conjunction with accounting to maintain and minimize levels of account receivables.
- Coordinate activities with other hotel departments in order to facilitate increased levels of communication and guest satisfaction.
- Coordinate efforts with Rooms Division in the weekly maintenance of room inventory status to achieve optimal levels of revenues while maintaining high levels of guest expectations.
- Develop promotional programs, point of sales materials, sales blitzes, etc.
- Report on a regular basis to the DOS/Revenue on actual room numbers against budget and profit projections. Analyze variances and monitor the impact of initiatives and corrective actions.
- Take every opportunity to amaze the guests.
- Ensures all guests are being treated in an efficient and courteous manner and that all Company standards are being applied.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

- Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required.
- Extensive knowledge of the hotel, its services and facilities.
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, NLRA
- Be available to help other departments in emergency situations.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the company including, but not limited to those contained in the associate handbook.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous sales experience required.
- Hotel sales experience strongly preferred.
- Driver’s License and clean MVR.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Office, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Well organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position will require long periods of standing on hard surfaces, occasionally in warm temperatures.
- Extensive lifting of supplies and materials and moderate to loud noise.
- Use of hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects is required.
- Finger dexterity required for computer use.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to travel up to 50%
- Regularly required to use oral communication skills; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; and interact with staff, other organizations and the public.
