Asset Protection Specialist
The Asset Protection Specialist is a field-based position which focuses on three core functions: 1) conducting store level assessments of all operational inventory controls, knowledge of various inventory reports, and physical security standards; 2) actively trains and performs knowledge transfer to store personnel as it relates to the inventory management, inventory control and physical inventory process; and 3) performs physical inventory counts and reconciles physical inventory in assigned locations. The position is a field assignment requiring the ability to work independently without daily supervision, while at the same time functioning as part of a larger department. This role encompasses our Northeast Territory, and the ideal candidate will reside in the Boston or Hartford area.
Position Responsibilities
- Performs in-depth operational assessments / audits of store performance and physical inventory operation compliance in accordance with American Freight policy and procedures.
- Compiles detailed written reporting around assessment / audit findings including the development and follow-up of action plans to correct identified deficiencies.
- Monitors and proactively addresses outliers related to controllable costs, profit, margin, operational processes, and compliance as measured through appropriate scorecard/reports.
- Provides recommendations for the implementation of policies and procedures, and creation or modification of systems to prevent and/or minimize loss attributable to inventory shrink.
- Leads training and knowledge transfer sessions aimed at improving inventory management skills across multiple stores in the assigned area.
- Develops relationships and support channels with all field leadership.
- Leads assigned Shrink Focus and High-Risk Stores in ensuring Physical Inventory Processes are executed to standards and is a subject matter expert on Inventory instructions, post inventory reconciliation and inventory training.
- Educates and motivates store team members and field management in achieving shrink goals; as applicable.
- Conducts investigations of internal dishonesty and supports the timely resolution of the investigations.
- Leads in ensuring we have safe and secure locations for our customers and employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Experiences
- Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent related experience can substitute for degree.
- Minimum 3-5 years combined experience but must include multi-unit management experience and experience in retail inventory process management.
- Proven ability to identify and implement effective tactics which reduce merchandise loss (Shrink).
- Advanced computer skills required including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritizing (time management), problem solving and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence activities and results of those who are not direct reports.
- Must be willing to travel (Approx. 75%) and be flexible with working hours depending on business needs and deadlines.
- Wicklander Certification highly desirable
COMPENSATION:
As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, American Freight provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and cultural fit. The range of starting pay for this role is $50,000 to 70,000 per year.
