About Chatham's Physical Therapy Program:
Chatham University's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is a 2.5-year residential program that produces highly skilled physical therapists, emphasizing critical thinking and self-directed learning using a modified problem-based learning approach. For nearly 30 years, we have prepared PTs to meet the challenges of a dynamic healthcare environment and support scholarly activity bridging science and clinical practice. About Chatham's College of Health Sciences:
The Physical Therapy Program is one of the first that formed the College of Health Sciences. Additionally, the College offers programs in occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, nursing, counseling psychology, athletic training, and exercise science.
Position Summary:
This 12-month appointment will be tenure-eligible and shall hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Physical Therapy. We are seeking an individual with a specialization in Pediatric Physical Therapy and experience teaching professional issues who values collegiality and is motivated to contribute to the Program's excellent reputation for entry-level education. As a faculty member on the tenure track, the candidate will be required to engage in teaching, scholarship, advising, and service, and must hold a license to practice as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach content in pediatric physical therapy (expertise demonstrated through work history, specialist certification, and/or research);
- Additional teaching in professional practice issues (communication, ethics, practice management, professionalism) dependent upon training, experience, and program needs;
- Facilitate problem-based learning groups and update cases as needed;
- Collaborate with program faculty to ensure consistency with educational themes throughout the curriculum;
- Engage in program, college, and university activities to include professional service and scholarship within areas of interest, and in alignment with the program's mission.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program evaluation.
- Participate in DPT admissions activities;
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director
Qualifications:
- One of the following is required:
- A terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, DSc, EdD)
- DPT combined with board certification in pediatric PT
- Academic terminal degree in progress with board certification in pediatric PT
- Current Pennsylvania physical therapy license or eligibility for licensure.
- Previous academic experience that includes lecture and/or lab instruction;
- Minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience;
- Established scholarly agenda/record of publication preferred
