About the Job
Christ College at Concordia University Irvine invites applications for a full-time faculty member in systematic theology at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Anticipated start date is December 1, 2024 or July 1, 2025. The faculty member will teach undergraduate theology courses in Concordia's Enduring Questions and Ideas Curriculum as well as upper division and graduate courses in systematic theology. The faculty member will also engage in theological scholarship, provide service to the university, and represent the Lutheran theological tradition within the university community. Candidates should hold an earned doctorate in systematic theology; candidates who are ABD may be considered. The ability and willingness to carry out part-time administrative roles is also desired.
Qualifications: Only candidates who are currently ordained ministers in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod or one of its partner church bodies, or who will be eligible for ordination by the time of the appointment, will be considered for this position. This position requires Synodical prior approval per bylaw 3.10.6.9.2 (2023 LCMS Handbook).
Appointment: This position is a full-time position on the university's Turtle Rock Campus in Irvine, CA. Occasional online and/or summer teaching may be required. The faculty member is expected to participate fully in the life of the university, including chapel, university committees and service, and informal collegial conversations.
