Job Summary
Provides clerical financial support toward the goal of preserving the health and independence ofclients in their home setting.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate on boththe front and back end consolidated billing process and queue claims forinsurance billing. Track timeliness ofthe billing cycle and review remits to maximize appropriate reimbursement.
- Troubleshoot, identify and resolve claims issues, using a team approach with staff from thirdparty billing company. Initiate appealswhen applicable.
- Handles insuranceverification, ongoing eligibility, and preauthorization of accounts.
- Attention todetail, strong decision-making skills and dependability are necessary tomaintain accurate monthly reports, reconcile visit totals, input concise dataentry and follow up of charges.
- Composes reportsas needed on Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook. Extensive use of Home Health/hospital patientand financial computer systems while at all times, maintaining confidentiality.
- Performs allfunctions according to the established policies, procedures and regulatoryrequirements as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Petersburg MedicalCenter with excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating ourGuiding Values and Code of Conduct. Presents hospital and Home Health Agency ina positive manner.
- Performs otherduties as assigned. This may include contracted billing services.
Qualifications
Patient care is always first. With this in mind, the Home Health Assistant Billing Coordinator must possess the ability to work and managemultiple projects and activities simultaneously. Must have excellent communication skills witha team approach to success, flexibility and perform clerical and billingfunctions in a concise manner and requires a high level of professionalism andconfidentiality.
Education - Must be able to utilize computer programs as a daily function.
- High school diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred.

Working Conditions:
- Physical Requirements: Moderate toheavy lifting (no greater than 50 pounds) standing, walking, and handling of clients,equipment and supplies.
- Environment: Variable. Office work, small workplaceoffice, computer, printer, scanner.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Reports to the Home Health Office Manager.
