Position Summary:
The Assistant Clubhouse Manager’s primary responsibility will be to manage dining and bar service for the Club’s various fine dining and casual outlets. This includes assisting in leading, overseeing, training, mentoring, coaching, counseling, and assisting the dining and bar service teams in ensuring Club standards of service are consistently achieved and members and guests have exceptional dining experiences. The Assistant Clubhouse Manager will assist with dining and beverage inventories, prepare and manage budgets, and lead dining and banquet service throughout the Club and possibly other areas of club operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all service aspects of dining and bar operations by leading, overseeing, training, mentoring, coaching, and assisting the dining and bar service staff, ensuring exceptional service and experiences are provided.
- Ensure the dining area and Bar are set, organized, and ready for service, including set-up of tables, chairs, linens, utensils, glassware, and the dining room and bar areas are clean, safe and, fully equipped, and operational.
- Conducted pre-shift meetings, ensuring all service staff were in proper uniform and adhered to appearance standards.
- Participate in the hiring and selection of dining and bar service staff and their orientation and training in accordance with Club policies, service standards, and applicable laws.
- Assist in the overall control and management of food and beverage costs in purchasing beverages, supplies, and equipment.
- Protect the Club, its members, and its guests by training staff and adhering to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol beverage practices, policies, laws, and regulations.
- Being regularly present in the dining area, handling member inquiries, concerns, or comments and providing solutions; acquiring feedback from members and co-workers to ensure satisfaction and to implement service improvements.
- The primary duty is management. However, when service is under stress, I will fill in as a bartender, server, host, etc., as needed.
- Be aware of all club events, large parties, and reservations that may affect the food and beverage operation and effectively communicate these to the front-line and back-line staff.
Qualifications (knowledge, skills, and abilities):
- Proven leadership experience in a restaurant, hotel, or private club.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule - nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
- Working knowledge of beers, wines, and spirits.
- Ability to be articulate, tactful, courteous, and diplomatic with members, guests, and fellow employees.
- Have a Bachelor’s or associate degree in Hospitality or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
