Assistant Dean Student Affairs: Nuvance Health is a Branch Campus for the Larner College of Medicine and has affiliations with Ross University School of Medicine and American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, offering core third year clerkships and a variety of fourth year electives to medical students from those schools. Students rotate primarily at Norwalk Hospital, Danbury Hospital and Nuvance offices in the western Connecticut area.
We are seeking an Assistant Dean for Student Affairs for a 0.4- 0.5 FTE position to oversee the non-curricular aspects of our Undergraduate Medical Education Program. The position can be constructed as a part-time job, or the remainder of the time will be configured to fit an apt candidate’s clinical background and practice interests. The person filling this position will report directly to the Associate Dean for the Regional Campus and will have an academic appointment at the Larner College of Medicine, University of Vermont on the Voluntary faculty track.
Job Summary:
- Academic Advising - Advises and/or supervises student organizations.
- Offers formal career counselling.
- Writes MSPEs for UVM students applying for residency.
- Collects and reports data regarding students' non-academic experience and satisfaction.
- Participates in UVM Admissions and Advancement processes.
- Oversees programing regarding Wellness and personal counseling.
- Participates in third year academic Orientation Program and occasional didactic teaching days.
- Plans and participates in extracurricular and community activities for students.
- Attends key events at the Larner College of Medicine (e.g. White Coat Ceremony, Graduation)
Job Requirements:
- Minimum formal education M.D., D.O. or PhD in an appropriate field and experience in a US medical educational setting
- Familiarity with Rules, Regulations and Requirements of UVM COM (as well as other affiliated medical schools.
- Ability to maintain standards and data necessary to meet LCME requirements as a Branch Campus of UVM COM.
- Ability to counsel student on academic, career and personal matters
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team building-skills

Salary range: $75,000 - $115,000 annually commensurate or relative to experience.
