The incumbent leads the Office of Fair Lending and Equal Opportunity, which provides expertise and coordination to set the Bureau's strategy on fair lending issues-including efforts to rein in emerging activities by entities that prevent fair, equitable, and non-discriminatory access to credit.
Responsibilities
As an Assistant Director, Fair Lending, you will:
- Coordinate, plan, implement, and manage short- and long-term objectives and strategies related to fair lending and fair lending compliance, including the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) and Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), in conjunction with other senior executives and managers. Works across the agency to address emerging issues related to fair, equitable, and non-discriminatory access to credit, including initiatives addressing algorithmic discrimination, the use of advanced technologies and AI in credit decisions, the evolution of lending, and niche or emerging credit products.
- Provide input, expert advice, and helps coordinate the Bureau's fair lending work across the agency, including research, regulatory, supervisory and enforcement activities.
- Draft and coordinate the publication of the Bureau's statutorily mandated fair lending reports and other fair lending or access to credit-related communications.
- Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.
