Provost UChicagoGRAD Fellowships
About the Department
UChicagoGRAD, a part of the Office of the Provost that supports graduate
education across the University, is an innovative national model for
preparing graduate students and postdocs to succeed while at UChicago
and beyond. With teams focusing on admissions, fellowship advising,
writing support and public speaking training, diversity initiatives,
career exploration and planning, and administration, UChicagoGRAD works
with campus partners to support students and postdocs at every stage of
their academic careers and beyond. UChicagoGRAD functions as a one-stop
shop for graduate students and postdocs to access resources that support
timely degree completion and to enhance professional preparation that
helps them translate their degrees into a variety of careers.
UChicagoGRAD works with academic departments and divisions as well as
campus-wide offices to develop and implement outreach, recruitment, and
yield efforts; graduate and postdoc-focused programs, workshops, and
events; training and support tailored to UChicago graduate students and
postdocs; and administrative practices and policies in support of
graduate education.
Job Summary
The job administers a range of programs, workshops, and advising related
to graduate student and postdoc scholarly development.
Responsibilities
- Advise graduate students in one-on-one meetings to help students
become acquainted with university resources, apply to fellowship
opportunities, and develop essential career skillsets.
- Develop and lead fellowship and writing programming related to
various aspects of scholarly development; regular events include
general information sessions, workshops, departmental presentations,
and sessions targeted to specific fellowship programs.
- Coordinate and organize content for information sessions and writing
workshops, including inviting speakers, delivering presentations,
and conducting outreach to ensure high levels of attendance at
events.
- Provide verbal and written feedback on all aspects of fellowship
applications.
- Contribute to professional development newsletters for master's
students, STEM doctoral students, as well as doctoral students in
humanities, social sciences, and related divisions and schools. With
interns, build monthly fellowships newsletters.
- Aid in developing website content, database, and fellowships Canvas
site to ensure accessibility and continued relevance.
- Support annual assessment and data collection for fellowships team,
including redefining metrics as the unit's needs develop.
- Serves as liaison with internal and external stakeholders; performs
outreach, maintains collaborative partnerships with campus partners,
participates in presentations on-/off-campus about UChicagoGRAD
services.
- Assist with supervision of interns with Director of Fellowships.
- Other duties as assigned, especially for all-hands-on-deck events at
UChicagoGRAD.
- Advises graduate students and postdocs on various aspects of their
scholarly development.
- Develops and leads programs and workshops related to various aspects
of scholarly development.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related
field.

years of work experience in a related job discipline.

- Advanced degree in related field.
Experience:
- At least three years of experience working in higher education or
nonprofits.

- Familiarity with the culture of a research university and the
breadth of university systems.
