General Purpose:
Registered Nurse, (RN), oversees and directs staff in clinical nursing responsibilities as the Assistant Director of Nursing to the Director of Nursing to promote and ensure quality care and improve resident outcomes.
Essential Job Duties:
· Admissions: assist with new admissions, ensure all orders from admission paperwork are in PCC, ensure all assessments are completed, ensure skin assessments is completed within 2 hours of admission, and ensure all vitals are obtained (temp, HR, respirations, BP, Sp02, height, and weight.).
· Compliance: assistant Director of Nursing will ensure that all resident and family services offered by Good Shepherd Lutheran Community (GSLC) comply with federal and state and local regulatory requirements. Participates in all compliance inspections. Complete audits as directed by the Director of Nursing. Ensure refrigerator temperature logs are maintained on each side of the building.
· Management: ensure staffing/coverage to provide sufficient personnel for delivery of resident/family services, including on-call, pursuant to GSLC policies and guidelines. Make a recommendation for staffing to the Staffing Coordinator. Provides administrative on-call support to clinical staff. Assist floor nurses as needed and fill in shifts.
· Staff Development: participates in planning, developing, and implementing of orientation, ongoing education of the clinical staff, and training new nurses as needed. Participates in the development of personnel policies and position descriptions that delineate qualifications, duties, and responsibilities for all levels of clinical staff.
· Nursing Services: assists the Director of Nursing in ensuring the 24-hour availability of nursing services to the residents. Ensure staff coverage in conjunction with the Staffing Coordinator to meet GSLC needs. Manages residents care with contracted staff to achieve appropriate utilization of services and positive resident outcomes.
· Training/Support: assists the Director of Nursing in appraising performance; rewarding and discipling employees/ addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure CNAs and nurses are completing their tasks and complete the MAR/TAR daily.
· Quality Assurance: review, identify, develop, and analyze trends with clinical outcomes that directly relate to the CMS Quality Measures on the CASPER Report. Create effective Performance Improvement Plans, (PIPS) to ensure quality improvement outcomes that are resident centered, systematic, systemic, and sustainable. Participate in the QAPI Committee to report on these quality improvement measures.
· Other: participate on committees and special projects, i.e., clinical meeting review, etc., and other duties assigned. Follow up on faxes out on each side of the building on clipboard and ensure we receive a response in a timely manner. Ensure floor nurses are completing their daily follow up. Double check orders placed in medical records box before placing in scan folder including faxed to pharmacy, all orders in PCC, family notification, progress notes, and ensure nurse noted order.
Qualifications:
· Must be a registered nurse and maintain current Nebraska or Compact-State license.
· CPR certified.
· Minimum of two years of experience as a staff nurse.
· Preferred one-year supervisory experience.
