Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology departmentis to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general and specialtyObstetrics and Gynecology to the women of central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, thedepartment has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medicaleducation in the field, and advancing the field through basic and clinicalresearch. The Department is committedto enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff and students. Finally, the Department faculty has aresponsibility to provide service to their profession and to the UniversityCommunity. Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking candidates to apply to the Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility position in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is designed to provide specialtycare in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. The position will include participation instudent and resident education. Theposition also includes participating in the department’s clinical researchactivities. Position Responsibilities: The position includesactive involvement in student and resident teaching in reproductiveendocrinology and infertility. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency.
2. Research
The person filling the position is encouragedto initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other departmentresearch.
3. Service
The faculty member willserve on departmental, hospital and/or university committees as necessary, aswell as in a professional capacity in their field. They will also be assigned to committees atthe discretion of the division director and department chair.
4. Clinical
Full participation inthe clinical activities of the reproductive endocrinology and infertility divisionis expected. Clinical activities are tobe determined the division director but are expected to include a combinationof clinic, inpatient care and operating room. Outpatient responsibilities maybe at VCU Medical Center or off-site atthe discretion of the chair and division director.
5. Other (for instanceadministrative duties, etc.)
Participate indepartment and institutional administrative activities as assigned by thesection chief and chair.
Completion of training in OB/GYN.
Completion of fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Medical license in Virginia
Certification by the American Board of OB/GYN in General OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; candidates who completed their fellowship recently enough that they are not yet eligible to sit for the exam will be considered with the expectation that they take the certification exams at the earliest opportunity.
