Job Description
The University of Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Swimming Coach to support the Head Swimming Coach in managing team training, practices, and recruiting. This role involves overseeing and coordinating practices, leading individual training sessions, and recruiting student-athletes. Administrative duties include managing team logistics, travel arrangements, and software like Team Manager and Meet Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist in coaching and mentoring student-athletes, actively engaging in team activities.
- Follow the guidance and direction of the Head Swimming Coach, upholding University policies and values.
- Perform administrative tasks, including travel arrangements, credit card reconciliation, and software management.
- Teach and reinforce fundamentals, techniques, and game strategies to team members.
- Assist in recruitment efforts, identifying and attracting talented student-athletes.
- Support student-athletes academically by connecting them with University resources.
- Assist with budgeting, requisitioning, and management of athletic equipment and supplies.
- Act as a role model, maintaining personal conduct aligned with University, NCAA, and conference regulations.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach and Athletics Department.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years as a swimmer, coach, or instructor.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Licenses/Certifications: Clean driving record required.
- Competencies:
- Commitment to NCAA Division II athletics and University policies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, and community members.
- Knowledge of NCAA Compliance standards and regulations.
