About the Job
Purpose: The Associate Design Director will support the federation's brand integrity, guidelines, and innovation through designed solutions and campaign work while establishing visual direction from conception to execution across multiple channels. The Associate Design Director will conceptualize, create, and present high-level visual strategies and design systems for cross-organizational initiatives in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Creative Directors and Brand Senior Leadership.
Delivery:
â— Work closely with creative directors, designers, and additional members of the Brand Department to support the ever-demanding and developing initiatives across PP's advocacy and healthcare verticals.
â— Build, articulate, and implement design guidelines and visual standards for health care, education, advocacy, and electoral campaigns and initiatives.
â— Design and/or design direct on-brand materials across a range of digital and print mediums.
â— Provide clear design direction to in-house designers and external freelancers/agencies to ensure brand consistency and effective design solutions.
â— Review and provide objective, insightful, and solution-oriented feedback on creative deliverables from a variety of teams and their vendors across the organization.
â— Build and uphold creative and organizational processes in collaboration with the team.
Engagement:
â— Lead designers in ensuring on-time delivery of a myriad of creative requests from various internal teams in collaboration with creative operations and project managers.
â— Embrace a consensus-driven, solution-oriented style of creating work; demonstrate empathy and understanding; collaborate amongst diverse communities and individuals.
â— Facilitate the teaching of designers and non-designers the value of the PPFA/PPAF brand with openness and generosity; listen to and discuss a variety of perspectives and solutions while maintaining a point of view and dedication to delivering organizational objectives.

â— Navigate and lead during moments of ambiguity; embrace nimbleness and flexibility; create clarity and understanding.
â— Operate in a fast-paced and demanding environment; address rapid response needs from multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
â— Juggle an often large volume of work effectively, balancing tight turnaround projects with long-lead work ensuring that projects are on track and that teams are aware of project status.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
â— BFA, MFA, or similar accreditation in Graphic Design and/or Visual Communications preferred.
â— Minimum of seven years of graphic design experience in-house or at a branding, design, advertising, or communications agency.
â— Two years of design direction experience preferred and/or experience mentoring designers.
â— Experience building brand guidelines within a larger brand system.
â— Extensive portfolio demonstrating design excellence and strong prowess in typography, composition, and color.
â— Ability to design for an expansive breadth of deliverables including social media, merchandise, experiential, web, presentations, print, brand assets (logo marks, icons, and graphic standards), video, and more.
â— Experience and passion in designing for and to accessibility standards.
â— High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Slack, and Google Products.
â— Illustration skills are a plus.
â— Proven track record of ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a highly matrixed environment.
â— Experience working effectively and efficiently with remote teams.
â— Extremely organized, process-oriented, and proactive; committed to asset organization and processes
â— Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and juggling multiple projects simultaneously.
â— Ability to proactively develop solutions to problems and challenges; know when to ask for help and support.
â— Strong oral and written communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, effective partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders to work effectively across differences, soliciting feedback and input from significant stakeholder groups.
â— Flexibility and ability to adapt to quickly changing priorities and ambiguous situations.
â— Solid equity lens, including an understanding of how oppression impacts people's ability to access their sexual and reproductive health and rights.
