ROLE SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Retail is responsible for overseeing all retail operations, leading a customer-centric team, and providing clear direction to achieve company initiatives. Additionally, the Associate Director of Retail implements and maintains policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all state and local laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing strategic initiatives to drive sales growth and increase market share across our retail channels. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record of success in retail sales management, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company sales targets and objectives.
- Collaborates with General Managers to ensure adequate training of all
- Direct the annual operations business plan development and implementation to align with the company's objectives.
- Participate in the delivery and implementation of distribution hubs.
- Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and development.
- Develop a quarterly report that goes to executive management.
- Work closely with all department heads to ensure all efforts are aligned.
- Works closely with the Marketing Director and Chief Retail Officer to execute training, sales, and procedures.
- Assist in identifying new dispensary locations and efficiently preparing them to be operational in a timely manner.
- Handle and conduct all Department of Health inspections of new dispensaries.
- Implement all protocols, policies, and procedures at each dispensary facility opened by Etain, ensuring that all dispensary facilities and operations practices comply with company standards.
- Assist Managers and staff during initial operations and open to the public phases, including but not limited to staff training and supervision of initial inventories, systems, equipment, and budgets.
- Coordinate planning and attendance of the Grand Opening with other departments.
- Development oversight and monitoring of the implementation of planned operations and/or specialty programs, including but not limited to monitoring the daily routine of each dispensary.
- Conduct regular meetings with regional managers to review their reports and set goals and objectives.
- Development of procedures and file management documentation to assist in and create a more fluid and positive customer experience while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure all dispensing facility employees maintain strict compliance with all regulatory and company policies.
- Ensure strict record-keeping for all inventory, supplies, and sales from a dispensing facility.
- Oversight of the hiring and termination processes of all dispensing facility employees.
- Ensure all dispensing facilities maintain a safe and clean atmosphere for all employees and customers.
- Analyze trends and improve operations to decrease costs.
- Assess the continued viability of underperforming stores.
- Work with HR to approve all retail management positions.
- Identify new initiatives that will help benefit the patient experience and/or increase revenue.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the customer experience and increase customer
satisfaction and loyalty.

Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Oversee all aspects of retail operations, including staff scheduling, inventory management, and technology functionality.
- Work collaboratively with the General Manager to develop and execute strategic plans, optimize expenses and budgets, and drive sales growth.
- Lead weekly manager meetings and monthly team meetings, ensuring clear and consistent communication across all levels.
- Champion a culture of compliance by maintaining expert knowledge of state cannabis regulations and internal policies.
- Develop and implement proactive internal controls, oversee security measures, and collaborate with the Director of Compliance to ensure employee adherence.
- Cultivate positive relationships with regulators, inspectors, and law enforcement personnel.
Customer Experience & Innovation
- Prioritize patient and customer satisfaction by ensuring a welcoming and informative dispensary environment.
- Maintain a consistent focus on customer loyalty, creating engaging and memorable customer experiences.
- Collaborate with corporate management to drive the success of promotions, loyalty programs, and marketing initiatives.
- Oversee accurate product information on the retail website and live menu, reflecting brand standards.
- Lead and champion innovative practices to keep the dispensary at the forefront of the industry.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure store appearance aligns with corporate standards.
- Oversee and approve product purchases from wholesale partners.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely completion of all state and company reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Corporate Management Team.

Physical Demands
- This role requires clear communication, mobility, and the ability to work in a professional office and retail environment.
- The ability to operate standard office equipment (computers, phones, etc.) is essential.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and reaching.
- Occasional lifting of moderate weight (less than 30 lbs) may be required.
- Regular attendance is crucial.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a Retail Assistant Manager or similar position
- Previous experience with sales
- Excellent customer service skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position assists with the management of all employees of the dispensary team and is responsible for leadership of the employees within its team.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work. Days and hours of work vary based on schedule and company necessity.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree/Master's Degree (preferred) Or Equivalent experience
Two or more years of sales experience in retail operations required
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Per state law, you must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must successfully complete a comprehensive background check.
- Must pass a drug screening
