The Associate Environmental Specialist is responsible for assisting facility HSE and operational leads in maintaining compliance with all Environmental permit requirements and applicable laws. This position is an Individual Contributor role. The role directly reports to the CB&I Corporate Environmental lead and routinely interacts with facility management and operational leads.
Responsibilities:- Familiarization with all company and area-specific environmental terms, requirements, and company incident reporting systems (Cintellate).
- Maintain site compliance with applicable permits.
- Identification of applicable regulatory requirements specific to site permits including air, waste and water monitoring.
- Ensuring site-specific environmental plans, procedures and instructions are followed.
- Assist in report writing through data gathering and analysis.
- Collecting and entering of data in support of permit and plan compliance.
- Ensure new products/chemicals comply with the Shop permit emission limit for (VOC, HAPs, and PM) by reviewing the product SDS, recommending the appropriate PPE, and keeping the SDS library updated.
- Ability to work as a team member and work with Corporate HSES to drive Compliance.
- Maintain key competencies associated with the Environmental function.
- Be conversant with local, State, and Federal Environmental laws, codes, regulations, and norms.
- 0-3 years Industry Experience
- An entry level Professional applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education (3-4 year University degree).
- Knowledge of EPA Title V program, TCEQ SWPPP, DMR, SPCC, and Industrial waste management.
- Training in HSE practices including Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Certifications preferred: OSHA, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental courses such as 101 or 401 certifications
