Financial Reporting Accountant
Greenwood Village, Colorado Hybrid
Annual Salary: $65,000 to $75,000 DOE
The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for assisting in the preparation of our SEC filings, including the 10Q's and 10-K, as well as monthly general ledger closing activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and review of the Quarterly and Annual Reports on Form 10-Q/K and manage the internal and external review for these documents and related releases.
- Assist in the review of quarterly executive summary, call scripts and earnings releases.
- Prepare supporting documentation and analyses to support the financial statements, footnotes and MD&A disclosures, including disclosure checklists and tie-out binders.
- Assisting in researching new guidance and ensuring timely identification and compliance with evolving accounting guidance and provide US GAAP interpretation.
- Work with internal and external auditors in conjunction with the annual year-end audit and interim reviews.
- Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements and continuously assess financial reporting process for improvements.
- Support month end and year end closing by appropriately accounting for debt, intangible assets, goodwill, stock compensation, equity and other transactions applicable to financial reporting.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare monthly support schedules and account analysis.
- Assist with accounting and integration for acquisitions, divestitures, and other complex accounting events.
- Support management in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests, and other tasks as assigned.
- Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
Skills:
- Excellent time management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems is a plus
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel required.
- Expertise in US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations, combined with the ability to research and propose positions on complex accounting issues
- Must be a self starter and have the ability to develop analysis of accounts and financial statements with limited supervision.
- Ability to work with others in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of experience with a public accounting firm with heavy exposure to SEC and financial reporting or 2-3 years of direct SEC financial reporting experience.
