About the Job
The Digital Strategy Team is seeking an Associate Manager to work with the VP of Digital Strategic Positioning to help maximize revenue at online retailers for children’s books via web copy, positioning statements, optimizing BISAC codes, and other data points key to converting consumers to a purchase.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for children’s books, be detail-oriented, have excellent writing and communication skills, and willing to work in a fast-paced, creative environment.
Position Summary:
• Act as a point person for the children’s divisions of Penguin Random House for questions and projects related to the Digital Strategic Positioning Team.
• Write and optimize web copy for both frontlist and backlist children’s books, working with the Senior Director of Digital Strategic Positioning and the divisional editorial teams on web copy strategies and best practices.
• Attend all sales and, when appropriate, divisional meetings focusing on priority titles.
• Field web copy requests and inquiries from the editorial teams as well as the sales team, and execute upon them where possible.
• Working with the children’s publishing divisions to help maintain and optimize various pieces of online retailer content including author biographies, excerpts, award information, and blurbs/reviews.
Qualifications:
• At least one year experience working with children’s books.
• Excellent communication skills, including a strong ability to interact with employees across various departments.
• Excellent writing skills, preferably with some prior experience of writing descriptions, jacket copy, title information sheet copy, or web copy for books.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of various children’s book formats and genres including board books, picture books, chapter books, coloring & activity books, middle grade, and young adult.
• Superb organizational and time management skills.
• Outstanding ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
The salary for this position is $63,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus subject to company result.
