This position has the opportunity to impact the analytical strategy for characterization of peptides, therapeutic proteins, antibody-drug conjugates, and vaccines.The ideal candidate will have a track record of advancing the development of biotherapeutics with mass spectrometry, as well as driving scientific excellence through external presentations and publications. Additionally, the candidate will have advanced knowledge in both analytical experimental design and biotherapeutic pipeline programs. Finally, this Associate Principal Scientist will be a partner in problem solving, building leadership, and driving collaboration both internally and externally.Primary ResponsibilitiesPerform assays including peptide mapping, intact and reduced mass, and host cell protein analysis.Advance mass spectrometry methodology for peptide mapping, intact mass, native mass, HDX, sequence variants, glycan analysis, quantitative analysis, and host cell protein analysis.Represent the mass spectrometry group in project teams.Author regulatory submission sections and responses, technical reports and scientific presentations.Explore and develop new technologies to advance the field of mass spectrometryDemonstrate effective multitasking, prioritization and problem-solving skills in the planning and execution of experiments.Mentor and share expertise across the Mass Spectrometry team.Champion compliance and safety as a leader both within and outside the laboratory.Education Minimum Requirement: PhD in Analytical Chemistry or Chemistry plus 5+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry; or MS in Chemistry plus 8+ years or BS in Chemistry plus 12+ years of relevant industry experienceRequired Experience and SkillsA breadth and depth of analytical and biologics development understanding, including multiple modalities such as monoclonal antibodies, fusion proteins, and ADCs.Experience in conducting biologic mass spectrometry experiments, including sample preparation and optimization, liquid chromatography separation, mass spectrometer operation and maintenance, data interpretation, and analysis.Extensive knowledge of Thermo, Sciex, Agilent and Waters instruments.Familiarity with Genedata or other biopharma MS software.Excellent verbal and written communications skills, as demonstrated through high impact scientific publications and presentations. ​Preferred Experience and SkillsExpertise in multiple reaction monitoring based quantitative analysis for biologics development.Expertise in complex glycan analysis.Familiarity with R programming language for data processing, statistics and visualization.Advanced knowledge of electronic laboratory notebook applications and good documentation practices.#AR&D# #EligibleforERPNOTICE FOR INTERNAL APPLICANTSIn accordance with Managers' Policy - Job Posting and Employee Placement, all employees subject to this policy are required to have a minimum of twelve (12) months of service in current position prior to applying for open positions.If you have been offered a separation benefits package, but have not yet reached your separation date and are offered a position within the salary and geographical parameters as set forth in the Summary Plan Description (SPD) of your separation package, then you are no longer eligible for your separation benefits package.
