Job Story
The Psychology Department at Wichita State University seeks to hire an
Associate Professor of Forensic Psychology to begin Fall 2025. We are
open to all areas of research interests but are especially interested in
scholars who study diverse populations or underrepresented groups. We
are also particularly interested in applicants who can teach
undergraduate and graduate-level courses in forensic psychology and
graduate level courses in clinical supervision. Applicants should be
graduates of forensic psychology, clinical psychology, or related Ph.D.
or Psy.D., programs, be licensed or license eligible, and have a strong
record of peer-reviewed publications. Salary provided by the university
is $150,000. Revenue generated from clinical services and postdoctoral
supervision will be open to negotiation.
The department has three Ph.D. programs in clinical, community, and
human factors psychology, as well as a large undergraduate student body.
The department is research oriented and has an expectation for faculty
to seek external funding. Wichita State University is located in Kansass
largest city and major industrial metropolitan area, with a population
of over 750,000. Wichita has a vibrant and growing community, with a
diverse school district yet with a modest cost of living and a thriving
downtown. Wichita State also has an in-house clinical psychology
training clinic that serves the greater Wichita area. Wichita State

Job Summary
Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various
instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and
fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and
engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To
advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement
in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative,
outreach activities, etc.)
Essential Functions
Meet expectations for research, teaching, and service as set forth by
the department and college.
Job Duties
Job responsibilities will include the clinical supervision of two
postdoctoral fellows which will be funded by the department, maintaining
a program of active research, and teaching at the graduate and
undergraduate level.
Required Education and Experience:
- Terminal degree in direct field.
- Meet expectations for research, teaching and service, as set forth
by the department and college.
Faculty Requirements
Graduate of forensic psychology, clinical psychology, or related Ph.D.
or Psy.D., programs
Licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist
Strong record of peer-reviewed publications
Must meet the level of research leading to publication and other
scholarly output appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Expert in an area of forensic psychology
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
- Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and
strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities,
including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods,
and applied learning approaches
