Assist and perform underwriting, risk assessment, and pricing on renewals and endorsements for commercial property & casualty insurance. Work with the underwriting team and agents/brokers to service accounts. Participate in on-the job training, courses, and self-study to develop underwriting knowledge.  This position is based in Morristown, NJ or New York City - Hybrid.

What you will do for C&F:

• Underwrite the following lines of business: commercial property, general liability, umbrella and other lines on occasion
• Contribute and work to the profitability, retention, and written premium goals determined by the branch
• Work within guidelines as defined by underwriting authority, guidelines, and service standards
• Evaluate underwriting information contained in account files as well as any applicable underwriting reports
• Assist Management and Senior Underwriters in special projects and assignments as needed
• Participate in training and initiatives to develop knowledge base
• Travel – up to 15%
• Other duties as assigned

What you will bring to C&F:

• Bachelor’s degree and/or insurance designations preferred
• 1-2 years general insurance experience, preferably in Commercial Property & Casualty lines (specifically property and general liability)
• Possesses strong communication and analytical skills
• Proficient in software needed to succeed
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Possesses, or is pursuing, underwriting designations
• Will abide by branch policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with Seneca’s risk control procedures

The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $54,200.00 to a maximum of $79,500.00. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
