JOB GOAL: To provide leadership, collaboration, and coordination in the area of athletic programs.
Qualifications: · Valid Professional Georgia Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education. · The ability to work successfully with other professionals. Proven organizational skills, effective oral and written communication and strong people skills. · Prefer 3 years of experience as Athletic Director. · Such alternatives as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
Responsibilities: · Prompt and regular attendance. · Provides and uses appropriate teaching strategies. · Carries out the duties of teaching the students assigned by the administration. · Acts as a resource person in the classroom and the school. · Evaluates student performance. · Effectively provides instruction to the assigned students. · Effectively communicates with parents and students as appropriate. · Coordinates the 6-8 athletic program in collaboration with principals and coaches to insure consistency of program. · Assist with the recruitment and selection of coaches and makes recommendations to the building principal. · Supervises coaches at the middle school level. · Schedules all middle school athletic contests and maintains the proper and necessary records. · Ensures officials are scheduled. Maintains an active file of officials under contract and pays officials following the contact. · Arranges transportation for all away middle school contests. · Supervises the preparation and verifies all athletic eligibility lists as applicable. · Supervises middle school athletic contests and acts as the host to officials and visiting schools. Oversees the supervision of contest employees and volunteers who work the athletic contest. Arranges for personnel to supervise contests as needed. · Supervises athletic funds, prepares and administers a detailed operating budget for the athletic program and submits it to the building principal. · Oversees fund raising activities. · Orders all equipment and maintains a current inventory of all athletic equipment. · Advises and ensures all coaches conform with Board, GHSA, league policies and regulations and with state and federal laws. Attends league and district meetings as applicable. · Assists with coordinating physicals for student athletes. · Supervises and is responsible of preparation for home contests. · Provides leadership for and serves as liaison to middle school athletic booster groups and coordinates, with the coaches, the support group for specific athletic programs. · Maintains awareness of all applicable policies and procedures. · All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent of Schools
Physical Requirements: Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including: Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects. Terms of Employment: Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system. Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principal. |
