Athletic Trainer
Monday-Friday; 24 hrs/week; onsite work at Martin Bros and Occ Health Clinic
Primary Hours: 7AM-5PM, however hours are flexible and may vary

What you will do:
The Athletic Trainer delivers worksite services to improve employee health, well-being, and performance. The Athletic Trainer provides early intervention, ergonomic assessment, rehabilitation, and outreach for the purpose of reducing injuries and risk for employees of client companies. The Athletic Trainer may perform duties within clinic setting on/at a client site in addition to Occ Med clinic.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Excellence/Patient Care
• Having a complete understanding of orthopedic injuries, confident evaluation skills, and a complete understanding of orthopedic protocols for acute, chronic and post-surgical rehabilitation.
• Coach employees on established and approved proper body mechanics and injury mitigation techniques including general indicated stretches and other interventions as directed
• Develop and record an accurate assessment of job duties by which necessary functional capacity exam standards can be established.
• Describe organization and administration of a basic functional capacity exam. Instruct a prospective employee to properly perform various tasks associated with a functional capacity exam.
• Have a thorough understanding of the job tasks that are performed within a company and be able to recognize safety issues
• Perform an ergonomic assessment of both static and dynamic activities, including interactions with tools or workstations. Interpret the results and identify individual positive and negative Fit employee with proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Customer Service
• Act as front-line customer ambassador for patients and clients on behalf of UnityPoint Health at Work
• Inform supervisor of any customer or patient related issues
• Communicate effectively when dealing with an employee incident (i.e., workplace accident) including union stewards, worker compensation representatives, safety managers and the treating medical professional.
Administrative Support
• Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential records written and electronically
• Prepare reports and data as directed to support client reporting and outcomes
• Become familiar and knowledgeable regarding the company’s established safety guidelines in additional to familiarization of OSHA guidelines, OSHA reporting, and any corporate injury reporting procedures.
Basic UPH Performance Criteria
• Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
• Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
• Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
• Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
• Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
• Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Certification in Massage Therapy, or Physical Therapy discipline
Experience:
Experience with ergonomic evaluation
Knowledge and skill in effective organization and instruction of identified interventions
License(s)/Certification(s):
Certification as an Athletic trainer by National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Massage
Athletic Trainer licensure in state of Iowa and/or Illinois (states in which practicing).
Current Driver’s License and car insurance
