About the Job
We have an exciting opportunity for an Audiovisual Systems Technician position located at our campus in Temecula, CA. Under general direction and supervision from the appropriate level manager, administrator, or designee, the Audiovisual Systems Technician provides timely and effective AV hardware and software support services, as well as installation, to end users for the operation and use of AV systems and its peripherals. The Audiovisual Systems Technician works with the Audio Visual Systems Engineer and the Audio Visual Systems Specialist. Incumbents assist with problem identification and resolution by assisting end users, or by determining escalation priority to the appropriate IT personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with the installation of:
- Ceiling and wall mounted projectors and cameras
- Wall or pole mounted displays.
- Ceiling and wall mounted speakers and/or microphones.
- AV components and interconnections within racks?or cabinets
- Maintain the following:
- Labeling and inventory of assigned AV system computer, network, peripherals, and software. Monitor and communicate technology supply levels.
- Records of maintenance and repair jobs performed on equipment, with associated resolutions, within a helpdesk platform.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose simple AV system hardware and other related issues.
- Respond to inquiries and requests and provide technical assistance to end users on AV technology and peripheral equipment.
- Test and validate AV system user interfaces.
- Checking and prepping AV systems for meetings and events.
- Salvage/Surplus AV systems equipment and peripherals.
- Perform maintenance and minor repairs for AV system components and equipment when necessary.
- Assist with the install of AV system component firmware upgrades.
- Diagnose and repair AV system cabling, and configuration problems.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for technical support, via email, phone, and helpdesk service platform
- Communicate with dispatch technicians.
- Assist and/or train users with District supported hardware, software, and system interfaces as it relates to AV systems technology.
- Assist with tracking and maintaining technical libraries.
- Develop knowledge and technical skills on a continuous basis to keep up with technology.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The incumbent should possess knowledge of:
- AV equipment commonly used in an educational or commercial setting.
- Basic methods and practices installing bulk cabling and its termination.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of construction techniques.
- Principles of Audiovisual (AV) technology including single processing and distribution, streaming, control, and connectivity
- Competencies in system integration, connectivity, installation, configuration, diagnostics, and systematic troubleshooting of AV systems
- Methods and techniques for troubleshooting and determining the causes of AV system device and software errors and failures.
The incumbent should possess skills in:
- Working effectively as a team member

- Communicating effectively both orally and in writing
- Maintaining documentation and records
- Handling multiple assignments simultaneously and set priorities based on District and customer needs.
The incumbent should possess the ability to:
- Safely use hand tools (crimpers, pliers, wire strippers, screwdriver, etc.)
- Build, test and verify, low voltage cabling.
- Troubleshoot AV systems, making minor modifications and repairs.
- Safely climb a ladder up to 15'
- Safely lift and handle 45 lbs. regularly.
- Safely climb ladders while carrying up to 45 pounds
- Safely use standard power tools (drill, impact, reciprocating saw, etc)
- Appropriately use safety equipment (glasses, gloves, hard hat) will be provided where/when needed.
- Read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Operate personal computers and personal computing devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Build, test and verify, low voltage cabling.
- Work in physically uncomfortable and unclean areas.
- Follow and apply written and oral work instructions.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Make sound independent judgments within established guidelines.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others, including those from a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A high school diploma or GED; AND
- One (1) year of increasingly responsible, professional experience in AV systems installations, operations, support, or maintenance; AND
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Low-voltage cabling experience and/or certification in accordance with California Public building code standards
- Extron Control Specialists Certification (ECS) or related AV certifications.
- Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and audio calibration experience
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Experience with AV system operations, support, or maintenance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a instructional meeting space setting, with travel from site to site. The incumbent must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with background noise and a high stress level. May work in physically uncomfortable and unclean areas.
Physical: Primary function requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and constructions settings and travel from site to site; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 45 pounds; safely climb ladders while carrying up to 45 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movements and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
