A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking an Audit Director who has experience with non-profit sales/practice development to add to their growing staff. They prefer candidates out of Big-4, national or large local CPA firms.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain contact with non-profit clients throughout the year.
- Assume the role of engagement partner or report directly to the engagement partner on engagements in accordance with firm policies.
- Sign attest opinions as a representative of the firm when assigned the role of engagement partner.
- Oversee all phases of an audit, review or accounting engagement when reporting to an engagement partner; ensure client deliverables comply with applicable accounting framework and firm policy.
- Apprise the engagement Partner, if applicable, of all important developments on the client account; identify potential issues on each engagement and implement solutions after partner consultation.
- Ensure engagements are properly scheduled.
- Serve as a non-profit subject matter expert.
- Ensure billing and collection practices are executed by engagement teams.
- Supervise staff assigned to engagements and provide on-the-job training; review work papers and reports prepared by the engagement team.
- Play a pivotal role in staff performance evaluations, reviews and periodic counseling.
- Involved in the recruitment of staff when needed.
- Act as a representative of the firm in business development matters; develop a network of business contacts and referrals to generate business for the firm.
- Assume the lead role on assigned prospective client leads and conduct initial communications with prospective clients, generating fee estimates and attending prospective client meetings
Qualifications:
- 10+ years' experience in public accounting focused on non-profit
- 3+ years in a senior manager position.
- Must have had proven success in sales / practice development.
- Prefer experience at Big-4, national or large local CPA firms.
- Current valid CPA license.
- Able to travel to assigned client locations.
- Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA firm.
- Possess thorough knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Auditing
- Standards, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board standards.
- Able to direct, review and train staff as a team leader and work as an effective team member.
Compensation commensurate with experience, base salary range $230K plus bonus, with a very reasonable work life balance, excellent benefits. May consider relocation assistance for exceptional candidates.
