Summary: This position is responsible for taking work orders generated by Team Leaders under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor. This is a highly independent role and requires a driven individual with great time/task management. This position will help drive the business into a more automated production process. This position will take the lead on design of in house projects as well help build parts stock and create PMs for new automation machinery. This position involves daily interaction with some or all of the following equipment: thermoformers, chamber sealers, inline wrappers, robotics, automated slicing equipment, pneumatic and vacuum fillers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead design and implementation of new automation projects and processes throughout the plant
- Manage all software for various controls components in use (Rslogix, RsLinx,TIA, CxSoft etc.)
- Responsible for all troubleshooting of logic issues
- Responsible for implementation and expansion of vision system technology
- Perform PMs on Robots
- Responsible for identifying cost savings through use of automation or in house programming etc.
- Work with outside vendors to improve current processes or find future process improvements.
- Assist line techs with troubleshooting of motor circuits, controls circuits etc. on all production lines.
- Assist building maintenance with controls circuits etc. on building support equipment (compressors, etc.)
- Take lead on design of all new controls systems for production and building maintenance, and work with techs to implement.
- Work with planner to write and modify PMs and automation equipment.
- Work with parts coordinator to build inventory for all automation equipment etc.
- Be an active and ongoing learner on new industry technologies involving automation processes
- Ability to train on controls/automation basics to maintenance techs
- Provide backup assistance to line technicians dependent on company needs
- Build documentation for in house designs and/or training purposes
- Programming of VFDs, PLCs and HMIs
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have good communication skills
- Be proficient with Microsoft Word, google drive and Outlook
- Ability to manage time and workload efficiently and independently
- Highly proficient at electrical troubleshooting and logic processes
- High level understanding of automation processes and design
- Have strong knowledge of automation software (Rslogix, CCW, Factory Talk ME and others)
- Maintenance activities are conducted in a food safety certified environment so previous food experience is strongly preferred.
- Automation or Robotics degree, and two plus years’ experience in industry OR five plus years of equivalent experience.
Work Environment:
- >20% of shift spent in refrigerated production rooms under 50°F
- Ability to respond to off hour calls for support over the phone
- Some overtime is expected in role
- Ability to lift > 50Lbs. on occasion
