Position Overview:
As an Automation Design Engineer at Pieper Automation, you will and execute automation projects, ensuring they meet customer needs and requirements. This role involves project design engineering, computer aided drafting, and cultivating customer relationships to drive repeat business and growth. You will work independently or as part of a project team, travel as needed for system commissioning, and communicate effectively with customers and various levels of personnel.

As an Automation Design Engineer at Pieper Automation, you will and execute automation projects, ensuring they meet customer needs and requirements. This role involves project design engineering, computer aided drafting, and cultivating customer relationships to drive repeat business and growth. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Documentation:
- Create bills of material (BOMs).
- Design custom control and power distribution panels.
- Develop electrical drawings sets including electrical schematics, panel layouts, and network diagrams.
- Generate equipment ID lists, wire/cable schedules, and electrical installation instructions.
- Interface and communicate effectively with various stakeholders including engineers, project managers, panel assemblers, electricians, vendors, customers, and company leadership.
- Apply knowledge of industrial controls, functional specifications, and basic hardware operation.
- Select appropriate hardware and instrumentation for specific applications.
- Implement wiring practices and conduct electrical fieldwork as needed.
- Understand requirements and practices necessary to meet standards such as UL or NFPA.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous education and mentorship of others.
- Maintain organized files and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
