Position Overview:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for automation and engineering tasks, including installation, start-up, commissioning, testing, qualification, operation, and maintenance of automated equipment and systems within a state-of-the-art biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility operating under GMP standards.
Required Qualifications:
3-10 years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing, laboratory, or similarly regulated industry (10+ years may qualify as a Senior Automation Engineer).
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Controls, or Electrical Engineering.
Ability to complete NFPA 70E training.
Strong technical expertise in controls, PLCs, instrumentation, and equipment software/firmware.
Proficiency with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron PLCs, HMIs, and Vision Systems.
Understanding of PID control theories, ISA, GAMP, ISO, and UL508A standards.
Off-shift or on-call availability as needed.
Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a contract manufacturing organization (CMO) or sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Knowledge of GMP guidelines and experience creating controlled documents.
Certification in Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron PLCs, HMIs, and Vision Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Support automation and control engineering activities for facility systems and production equipment, including advanced aseptic manufacturing equipment.
Provide engineering assistance for new and existing product/equipment launches and support cross-functional teams.
Act as a subject matter expert for automation, leading specification tests and guiding projects.
Create and review SOPs and equipment specifications, collaborating with various departments on automation standards.
Collaborate with Operations, Tech Services, and Quality teams on manufacturing equipment and automation system troubleshooting.
Adhere to SOPs, maintain training qualifications, and support the Engineering and Maintenance teams.
