About the Job
Kett Engineering is seeking an automotive technician to work with our customer, a prestigious German automobile manufacturer at their research and development center in Carson, CA
The successful candidate will support test fleet activities. Updating of hardware and software. Reviewing and maintaining documentation driver reports, work orders, data recorders, etc.. Reporting and feedback including weekly downloads, software updates to responsible groups / persons. Perform all scheduled maintenances and repairs on vehicles as required. Scrapping of cars. Perform required measurements as directed. All vehicle movements both arriving and departing Shipping, Truck Deliveries, Shaffer Trans, IQS, Air France and Lufthansa
Role Summary:
Supporting of Test Fleet Activities as needed determined by the Manager / Test Fleet Coordinator.
Work Flexibility/Schedule:
Monday - Friday (occasional Saturday)
7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Occasional domestic travel ( average 2-3 times per year ) required for business & training, possibly to international locations
Minimum years of relevant experience needed to perform the job 3-5 years job related experience. Automotive background & technical experience.
Responsibilities:
· Perform detailed and thorough inspections and repair of all test vehicles.
· Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of test vehicles as defined
· Provide full vehicle support to assist in root cause analysis
· Assist in maintaining workshop tools, tires, and service part inventory
· Provide technical support for visiting test groups
· Install, remove and maintain data logging equipment for information gathering from vehicles
· Inspection of assigned vehicles
· Sampling and collection of fluids with full documentation
· Maintain and update engineering tools such as iDEX, Diagra, ODIS, and CP Tool
· Prepare vehicles for rotation for external drivers
Secondary Responsibilities:
· Safety and cleanliness of work area is mandatory and common areas
· Provide overall support for tasks unrelated to vehicle testing for department operations
· Support of test driver needs and questions before and after shifts
Skills:
Required
- Basic ability with Microsoft Office applications
- Highly organized and dependable
- Valid drivers license with good DMV record
- Ability to work well independently and with minimal supervision
- Minimum two ASE certifications: One engine related
- Recent Automotive drivetrain diagnostic experience
- Heavy duty line experience
- Solid knowledge of the English language
- Analytical and conceptual thinking using logic and reason, creative and strategic
- Communication skills interpersonal, presentation and written
- Computer savvy skilled in use of software / Engineering tools (INCA, Vector, Diagra, IDEX, CP Tool, VDS, System 42)
- Integration joining people, processes or systems

Education/Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Automotive vocational technical training
- Dealership product training
- Certificate in Automotive Technology
- ASE Certification x2
- Communication skills interpersonal, presentation and written
- Computer savvy skilled in use of software / Engineering tools (INCA, Vector, Diagra, IDEX, CP Tool, VDS, System 42)
- Integration joining people, processes or systems
- Problem solving
- Clean driving record for 3 years (no moving violations or at fault accidents)
- Pass a Criminal Background Screening and a Drug Testing.

Previous experience working as a Technician in an Engineering Test and Development Environment
