Job Purpose:
A mechanical technician is responsible for the actual service and / or repair of vehicles assigned to him by service management or their designated representatives.
Duties and Responsibilities, include but not limited to:
- Properly complete the service and / or repairs for which the technician is trained as assigned by management or their designated representative.
- Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts. Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by customer.
- Consult with service advisor about additional work needed, if not work will not be completed within specified time period.
- Document work performed. Complete CCR in a clear concise format that complies with state law. Road test vehicles when required.
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes.
- Maintain an inventory of normal mechanical tools to include screwdrivers, wrenches, socket wrenches, pliers, hammers, chisels and punches, and other tools needed to perform the work for which the technician is trained and not normally inventoried by the service department as "special tools".
- Properly use the special tools and equipment provided by the service department.
- Participate in and utilize to the best of one's abilities, technical training as assigned by management and factory certifications.
- Produce quality work that evidences pride of workmanship.
- Maintain the workspace assigned in an organized and cleanly manner.
- Ensure that customer's vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced.
- Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policy.
- Arrive at work, take breaks, and depart work at the time designated by management.
- Show common courtesy to all customers and dealership personnel.
- Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management.
- Review the technical bulletins and other publications as assigned by management.
- Provide the administrative assistance necessary to complete warranty repair orders and other tasks assigned by management.
- Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner.
- Constructively communicate with other dealership personnel as required to satisfy customer needs.
- Report to management any situation or condition that would jeopardize the safety, welfare, integrity of the dealership, its customers, or employees.
Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a professional manner; must be legally and technically able to safely operate Company and customer-owned vehicles; and must be insurable by Company insurance carrier. Working extended hours, evenings and weekends may be required to achieve goals.

MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING DUTIES WITHOUT RESTRICTS DURING A 12 HOURS DAY:
BENDING/STOOPING, KNEELING, PULLING/PUSHING, REACHING, STANDING, SITTING, WALKING, FINE MANIPULATION, OVERHEAD REACH, LIFTING AT LEAST 75LBS, AND CARRY AT LEAST 75LBS.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- ASE Certification preferred.
- PA Emissions and Inspection License
