Under the supervision of the Director of Children's Services, the Behavior Services Specialist (BSS) is responsible for providing behavior management support to teaching staff and children to ensure safety and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards in the classroom. In collaboration with the Disabilities Services Specialists and the Mental Health Consultant, the Behavior Services Specialist provides hands-on support for children with behaviors that interfere with their ability to participate and optimally learn in the classroom and routines or pose safety/health risks to themselves or others. The role of the BSS is to promote the social, emotional, physical, & intellectual growth of the child through teamwork and Parent-Teacher collaboration. The BSS will also be responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, record keeping and reporting, guiding, training, supervising, evaluating, supporting, and collaborating to ensure the effective delivery of services in the Disability/Mental Health Program.
