Under general supervision, provides technical guidance and oversight to contract staff engaged in building preservation or other contract services for various City projects.

TASKS
Provide oversight in ensuring contractor compliance with contract terms for all agreements managed by the division;
Assist in training, evaluating the performance, and planning the daily work schedule of division staff or contractors;
Monitors work of contract staff engaged in pest control, window washing, flooring moving furniture, or other tasks assigned to the division;
Maintains inventory and distribution of custodial supplies and equipment, including ordering special materials and supplies for operations or events;
Perform facilities inspections to ensure hazards are mitigated, and facilities are in good condition
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent AND three years of experience performing custodial work, maintaining buildings in clean, orderly, and secure conditions, and providing directions for the proper use of cleaning materials and equipment safely. Must possess at the time of application and maintain a valid California Driver's License.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Work may require frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting 50 pounds. May be exposed to repetitive motion, extreme temperatures and weather, moving traffic, toxic fumes, solvents and chemicals, infectious diseases, and water and airborne pathogens.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Knowledge of contract administration techniques and practices, City policies and procedures, billing techniques, time and cost project estimating, record management techniques, inventory control procedures, and safety precautions when handling chemicals or equipment,
Skilled in prioritizing multiple tasks and working within deadlines, following and providing oral and written instructions, and establishing and maintaining productive working relationships; monitoring and inspecting the work of contractors;
Ability to independently manage the day-to-day issues or concerns, make sound judgment, and effectively communicate with all levels of staff; assess the building operations' needs and write clear and concise reports.
Proficient in the use of work-related computer applications, including e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, the internet, and other equipment necessary to perform essential duties.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants whose experience best meets the city's needs will be invited to participate in the examination for this position. Candidates must have access to a computer with internet, video, and audio capabilities to participate in our examination process.
The examination may consist of one or more of the following: (1) Training & Experience Evaluation, (2) Writing Exercise, and (3) Qualifications Appraisal Interview with a panel of subject matter experts. Candidates must receive a score of 70 or higher to have their names placed on the active eligibility list for one year. The top three ranks on the Eligibility List will have their application materials forwarded to the hiring authority for a selection interview.
