Our client is hiring for a First Line Compliance Manager. The First Line Compliance Manager is responsible for leading the bank’s First Line of Defense for compliance. The successful candidate will partner with all segments of the bank to develop, implement, and execute first line controls and monitoring systems. This role involves complex professional compliance work, including serving as an advisor to business owners and management. The First Line Compliance Manager will assess compliance findings across the enterprise, collaborating with Business Owners and Compliance teams to mitigate risks. Additionally, the position manages compliance remediation efforts, focusing on internal and operational controls, processes, and regulations. The candidate will also ensure that field staff meet all compliance requirements through partnerships with Compliance Liaisons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the receipt and review of incoming audits and reviews within the bank segments, assisting with management responses and remediation plans.
- Develop an understanding of daily functions, processes, and procedures within the bank's business segments to apply to first line compliance control.
- Establish monitors for key compliance and risk controls in collaboration with business unit managers.
- Conduct research on compliance topics to provide informed recommendations and responses to audit findings.
- Coordinate with the training department to deliver compliance training and ensure buy-in from the field teams.
- Partner with business segments to proactively address compliance areas requiring improvement before formal audits.
- Lead the development and implementation of bank procedures that ensure regulatory compliance across all regions.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of banking regulations and compliance practices.
- Understanding of bank processes, procedures, and operations.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to promote teamwork and cooperation when suggesting improvements.
- Willingness to pursue ongoing training to complement work experience.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in bank compliance or bank operations, or a combination of both.
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- A degree in a relevant field is a plus.
- Compliance certifications are a plus.
