POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports administrators and teachers in the development and coordination of behavior interventions for students within the District. Works with other district personnel to promote various methods of learning for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students. This position reports to the Director of Student Discipline, Prevention and Intervention.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support to administrators, teachers, and students, specifically Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
Plan and confer with the instructional staff concerning behavioral, social and developmental needs of students. Develop and conduct in-service activities regarding behavior modification techniques that address behavioral, social, and developmental deficits. Assist instructional staff with the development of Behavior contracts, instructional strategies/techniques, and interventions.
Collaborates with other district-level behavioral specialists from various departments in referring students who require further evaluation or follow-up services to the appropriate school district personnel.
Conferences with administrators, as well as other school system employees to continually enhance and promote maximum behavior intervention programs, methods, and strategies for students.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate education field, preferably with a background in behavior intervention an area of Special Education (desired).
Minimum 3 years teaching experience.
Prior experience coordinating behavior intervention programs in a K-12 public school environment (desired).
Minimum - Georgia Professional Certification at Teaching – 4 (T-4). Valid GA driver’s license.
Moderate level of judgment: supervisor is available to review established broad objectives and approve executive-level decisions.
Requires regular, frequent contact with internal personnel to discuss issues of moderate importance. Excellent interpersonal skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills are required for interacting and working with various levels of individuals.
Requires excellent presentation, written, and verbal skills.
Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of data collection; must be proficient with computer.
May require travel for off-site locations and school site visits.
