Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Coordinator, the Behavioral Health Receptionist greets clients, assists with client intake processes, and ensures that proper scheduling of appointments occurs for clients at the behavioral health clinic. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
Starting Wage Range: $47,696 – 66,774 per year DOE.
Regular Work Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday – Friday with a 1-hour lunch.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Job Summary:

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Welcomes clients and visitors to the clinic by greeting patients and visitors in person, via email, and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members.
- Schedules appointments for clinicians to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time, and most effective use of clinician’s time.
- Scans client documentation into electronic health record.
- Maintains reception area in a neat and orderly condition.
- Assists clients with insurance papers and billing questions.
- Opens and sorts office mail.
- Participates in behavioral health emergency procedures when required. Summons ambulance, EMS, police dispatch, or assists other staff members as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and clients with a wide range of substance use and mental health challenges.
- Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Office skills such as typing, filing, and scanning.
- Ability to quickly learn the use of an electronic health record system.
- Ability to protect confidential client information.
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
- Comfort with use of computers and tablets.
- Be an active listener and good communicator with clients, coworkers, and community members.
- Excellent professional boundaries and ability to operate within the scope of practice as a non-clinical service provider.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Experience working as a receptionist or administrative assistant preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
- Must pass ADOC and DOH background checks or qualify for a variance.
- Must pass drug test upon hire.
