What Are We Looking For?
Behavioral Health Techs/Mental Health Specialists with experience working in behavioral health, and addiction/substance abuse treatment facility is preferred. The Mental Health Specialist is responsible for providing supportive services to mental health patients and is a participating member of the collaborative interdisciplinary treatment team to help assist in the mental health care of the people served.
This position is full-time for inpatient campus. The schedule will reflect (3) 12-hour shifts - 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a mental health institution or psychiatric facility preferred
- Experience working with diverse patient populations
- Certification as a Behavioral Health Tech or Mental Health Specialist
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in psychology preferred but not required
- Excellent working in an outpatient mental health setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Current CPR Certification or must be obtained
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training or must be obtained
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Be at least 21 years of age to drive company vehicles, if required
- Assists the nursing staff in the responsibility for day-to-day processing of new admissions in triage in a timely and efficient manner.
- Serves as a support for patients entering treatment in the facility.
- Observes all patient activity, maintains a visible presence on the patients in and outside the campus, and circulates throughout the treatment center’s facility.
- Assists patient’s daily activities and ADL’s, as needed.
- Acts as a liaison between patients and treatment team, documenting pertinent observations to support treatment team and assist the patient.
- Recognizes and responds to crisis situations and provides appropriate interventions.
- Supervises patients while they are unpacking/packing
- Maintains orderly conduct of patients, ensuring the safety of all patients.
- Conducts searches of patient property and removes all contraband.
- Observes urinalysis exams.
- Transport patients to and from the emergency room and/or doctor’s appointments when necessary using company vehicle.
- Observes patients and maintains a visible presence while circulating throughout the facility
- Recognizes and responds to crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions
- Encourages and ensures patients participate to the treatment program/groups as scheduled
- Acts as a liaison between patients and treatment team, documenting pertinent observations to support treatment team and assist the patient
- Transports patient to and from appointments and recreational activities using the company vehicle
