We are in search of an Benefits Director to fill an immediate part-time temporary position. The role is focused on our annual Healthcare renewal and managing an active open enrollment. The individual will be tasked with handling benefits on an "on-call" basis for approximately 20 hours per week. We are seeking a highly collaborative individual who is people oriented and a team player.
This outlines the general tasks for which the individual will be responsible, though it should be noted that this represents a high-level perspective and does not necessarily imply that the person will be assigned all these tasks.
This assignment is immediate, for a duration of three months. Ideal is someone with proximity to our NY office, but we are open to a remote (USA) hire.
BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION
You will oversee the administration and compliance of various employee benefit programs. This role requires a deep understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
- Lead Healthcare renewal, working with brokers and internal stakeholders
- Manage an active open enrollment
- Assist employees with new hire benefits orientation and clarifying policies on benefits eligibility, coverage, and applicability.
- Including medical, dental, vision, 401k, life, accident, and disability insurance, EAP, paid time off, and leave administration (e.g., FMLA, STD, LTD).
- Manage relationships with benefits partners for escalated support needs, including claims administration and appeals, COBRA, retirement administration, and HRIS data integrity.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations such as ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, FMLA, DOL, and IRS (e.g., IRS Form 5500 series).
- Oversee the preparation of 5500s, SPDs, ACA filings, Workers' Compensation filings, etc.
- Reconcile and process benefits invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- 401k Plan project management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 12+ years of related benefits design and administration as well as HR operations and policies
- Experience managing vendor/broker relationships
- Experience supporting annual benefits review
- Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, possess strong organizational skills and prioritization skills, work independently, and meet urgent deadlines
- Excellent written communication skills, including prior experience developing and documenting policies; excellent verbal communication skills, including preparing and conducting presentations.
SALARY: 65.00-100.00 per hour - commensurate with experience. This is a temporary role and not benefits eligible.
