Ensure the beverage department operates in an efficient and productive manner. Ensure that the laws are complied with and that Hotel policy is maintained. Control costs and increase revenues.
Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
Oversee work performance of employees to ensure that the proper level of service is being provided.
Prepare the weekly and daily work schedules. This is based on business flow and events in the Hotel.
Analyze accounting information and determine if the operation of the department is progressing in a satisfactory direction.
Analyze all pertinent reports to ensure controlled costs and enhancement of revenue.
Prepare forecasts and budgets.
Ensure the smooth running of the Beverage department.
Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate liquor regulations pertaining to alcoholic beverage service to minors and intoxicated guests.
Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions to supervisor, Security or Safety personnel.
Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest/employee safety in fire/emergency situations.
Abide by all State and Corporate gaming regulations pertaining to the presence of minors in gaming areas.
QualificationsPerformance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to read and utilize math skills for scheduling and budget administration.
Ability to effectively deal with internal/external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and solve customer concerns.
Ability to act independently while analyzing data and drawing conclusions from written and computer generated materials.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to staff. Assign and instruct all personnel in details of work. Observe performance and encourage improvement. Monitor workload and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance. Ability to relate to all levels of management and employees in verbal/written form.
Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for other employees. Resolve complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and the most effective solutions. Make decisions and take action based on previous experience & judgement, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to complete job requirements and communicate with other employees.
Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multiple interruptions.
Ability to exercise judgement and implement control over the performance of staff.
Adheres to control procedure for beverage costs, labor costs and quality.
Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgement.
Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.
Knowledge of labor law.
Ability to access and input information using a moderately complex computer system.
Supervise all staff including training, counseling and discipline.
Knowledge of Beverage operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment and guest relations.
Schedule staff so that proper coverage is maintained while keeping payroll costs in line.
Mathematical skills necessary to analyze reports, prepare forecasts and budgets.
Listen & respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answer questions and offer assistance giving accurate information.
Ability to locate and report exceptions/variations to standard operating procedures.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee and management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions and/or offering assistance giving accurate information regarding plans, policy or procedures.
Respond to guest inquiries. Provide guest satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within hotel guidelines.
Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
Typical physical / mental demands
Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move good weighing a maximum of 35 lbs. and sufficient dexterity of hand to use office equipment including: computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment and multi-line telephone.
Typical Working Condition:
Ability to stand, move and work throughout office area and property, including walking up to 5 miles, climbing stairs/step-ladders, and sitting at desk workstation for the duration of the shift.
