Position Purpose:
The FCC Production Supervisor is critical to the continued growth and success of Fresh Connect Central, a social enterprise of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, currently serving approximately half of the Feeding America Network. The FCC Production Supervisor will oversee activities related to the scheduling, inventory, and managing the assembly of products to exact customer requests. All responsibilities and duties will further Gleaners’ mission to be a leader in the fight against hunger.

Essential Functions of the FCC Production Supervisor:
- Oversee staffing partner (may include up to 40 employees) in the assembly of custom ordered boxes.
- Ensure all work is completed within targeted timeframes, is accurate to the customer’s request, and the quality meets Fresh Connect Central’s standards.
- Manage and guide produce bagging subassembly operation along with other production projects as opportunities arise.
- Use ProducePro (ERP) to create production worksheets, record daily production yields, manage inventory, and project future staffing needs based on customer demand.
- Work on continuous process improvements within the production room and warehouse in general.
- Communicate clearly, professionally, and respond promptly to all inquiries from other departments of the Fresh Connect and Gleaners teams. Being a team player is an absolute must.
- Work safely and accurately with minimal supervision.
- Promote and ensure a safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to all food safety guidelines according to GFB, Feeding America, AIB, USDA, ISDH and any other applicable processes or regulations for safe and sanitary production and storage of all products.
- Operate PIT equipment according to Gleaners and OSHA guidelines
- Supervise, hire, train, motivate, coach, manage performance, discipline, and evaluate direct reports.
- Motivate staff to be an effective part of the Gleaners team working together to achieve the organization’s goals.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repair of equipment, order new parts, and schedule outside repair services as needed.
- Assist inventory and receiving/shipping as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the FCC Production Supervisor:
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Prior experience in machine maintenance and troubleshooting is desired
- Previous experience and/or training in supervision or team lead level desired
Qualifications of the FCC Production Supervisor:
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication skills Ability to read, write and to understand instructions.
- Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with all staff members, agencies, volunteers, and donors.
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Inventory and receiving experience (preferred.)
- ERP experience (preferred).
- Ability to perform basic math functions, (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
- Ability to count accurately and maintain accurate records.
- Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and follow safety guidelines for production equipment.
- Commitment to a service-oriented organization where team building, and collaboration are paramount.
- Be accountable and meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with staff, vendors, and volunteers.
- Familiar with produce and identifying good vs. bad product
Work Environment & Physical Demands of FCC Production Supervisor:
- Ability to lift and/or and move 50 lbs. regularly and to push/pull 2,000lbs. of product using manual pallet jack.
- This position is predominantly warehouse-based with primary activity in refrigerated or freezer environments (below 45 degrees Fahrenheit).
