About the Job
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated bi-lingual Community Engagement Coordinator to join our client, a non-profit organization recognized for its trauma-informed work in domestic and intimate partner violence. The Coordinator will mobilize Hispanic/Latinx communities to address factors contributing to domestic and intimate partner violence. This work will be grounded in connecting with and listening to the community in order to develop culturally relevant resources and partnerships, and effective advocacy strategies for raising awareness of gender-based violence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement outreach strategy for Hispanic/Latinx communities in the Holyoke/Springfield/Chicopee area.
- Connect our client with key stakeholders of the Hispanic/Latinx communities to foster alliances and enhance community access to survivor services and programs.
- Conduct needs assessments, surveys, focus groups, public meetings, etc. to gather input/data and to understand the specific challenges, resources, and gaps related to domestic violence prevention and support.
- Identify and initiate opportunities for new collaborations and initiate actions to partner with like-missioned nonprofits, commercial enterprises and local service groups.
- Leverage and enhance existing outreach initiatives by working with staff team members and volunteers to deepen connections in Hispanic/Latinx communities.
- Gather and examine data on outreach initiatives and community engagement events in order to assess efficacy and guide future initiatives.
- Create reports and presentations that outline successes, difficulties, and suggestions for outreach development and distribute findings to the management team and any other relevant parties.
- Utilize social media, email, organization newsletters to stay in contact with outreach partners and to provide communication on outreach efforts and opportunities in the community.
- Participate with staff team members in overall organizational outreach and communication planning.
- Collaborate with staff team members to recruit and train volunteers to support community advocacy and outreach activities.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- Associates or higher degree and minimum of 2 years' experience in community outreach, social service liaison, event planning, public relations or a combination of these. Candidates with non-traditional career pathways, lived experience with gender-based violence or commensurate life experiences encouraged to apply.
- Awareness of issues related to domestic abuse/gender-based violence and the systemic inequities that help perpetuate intimate partner violence. May be required to participate in domestic violence trainings.
- Strong organizational, communications and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite products, presentation software, social media platforms, and databases.
- Ability to represent the client in public, deliver professional presentations to large and small audiences of all backgrounds, and be responsive to constituents and to the general public's questions or concerns.
- Must have reliable personal transportation, a valid driver's license, auto insurance and an acceptable driving record.

Our client offers a hybrid work schedule, which includes flexible in-person attendance for community engagement work and meetings, some in-office time and work-from-home hours. During the temporary period, this position requires in-person hours at client’s Holyoke office.

Job Type: Temp-to-hire, Full-time
Compensation: $44,000-$48,000 depending on experience, academic credentials and bilingual language skills.
Hours: Typical hours will be 9 AM - 5 PM, however these hours are flexible when weekend hours or evening events/meetings arise. For example, if the Community Education Coordinator runs a 2-hour evening training, they can start their work day 2 hours later.
