JOB DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for assisting with coordination of the birthday party program at the Summit on the Park Community Center. The Birthday Party Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of birthday party staff, party reservations, logistics, and supplies.
EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Note: These examples are intended merely as illustrations of the various types of work performed.)
- Plans, supervises and coordinates the Summit on the Park Birthday Party Program.
- Assists with set-up, including, but not limited to, decorating for the event with the designated theme supplies.
- Utilizes department software to schedule parties and process payments for reservations.
- Coordinates set-up, tear down and cleanup of parties.
- Responsible for interviewing, training, scheduling, and supervising part-time/seasonal birthday party staff as directed.
- Ability to supervise up to 15 children at a time; the ages of children may range from 4 to 12 years of age.
- Assists with party preparations and other requests, including, but not limited to, cutting cake, serving refreshments and filling helium balloons as needed.
- Responsible for purchasing supplies and equipment for programs and activities.
- Responsible for enforcement and compliance with safety program rules, policies, regulations, and procedures by public and employees.
- Prepares information and reports for budgets, monthly and annual reports.
- Maintains accurate program, activity, and equipment records.
- Responsible for responding to, communicating and documenting emergency situations and incidents, including, but not limited to, First Aid, CPR, Severe Weather and Missing Child Events.
- Stays abreast of Canton Leisure Services communications, including, but not limited to, reviewing and responding to email daily.
- Leads staff meetings as scheduled.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of community needs and current trends in the recreation area to ensure the delivery of quality customer service for program and activity participants and guests.
- Responsible for interaction with participants, families and staff members in a positive, professional and friendly manner to ensure a high level of customer service and delivery of quality recreation programs.
- Ensures proper ADA accommodations are met in the facility.
- Inspects and prepares facilities and equipment for planned programs and events; reports equipment damage to supervisor.
- Responsible for working with vendors and entertainment to ensure proper contracts are in order for services.
- Performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous customer service experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in all aspects of computers, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet based online systems; data entry experience is required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to self-start in discharging responsibilities.
- Previous recreation experience working in a similar facility or program preferred.
- Must possess a current, valid Driver's License with a driving history that does not create liability concerns, which include, but are not limited to, convictions for reckless driving, careless driving, suspended license or convictions involving drinking and impaired driving.
- Ability to perform manual lifting and loading of program supplies and equipment.
- Ability to clearly communicate procedures, problems, and policies with fellow employees and the public tactfully and courteously.
- Ability to demonstrate techniques and skills associated with assigned programs and activities.
- Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
- Ability to work a wide variety of shifts, including afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- This is an "At-Will" position: Work assignments and hours scheduled based on availability, division requirements and within the confines of the budget. Schedules and work hours are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time due to division needs, budgeting and staff availability.

- This is a part-time job opportunity. An employee in this position can work up to 29 hours per week year-round. Work hours, however, will be solely determined based on workload and availability.
- This is an at-will position. Hours are limited and will vary based on the operational needs of the department. Employees in this position are not full-time and will be classified as part-time employees.
