M-F 9a-5p for the first 3 mo then assigned to one of the following shifts:
(4 days a week, Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat)
1st: 5a-3p EST
2nd: 2p-12a EST
3rd: 8p-6a EST (no shift diff)
MUST be Flexible and able to work in 24/7 operations center
Must be willing to work the shifts/weekends Holiday.
2 positions are needed for overnight shift
TV/Broadcast experience
Basic Network, Computer and Audio Visual Knowledge
AWS knowledge
Troubleshooting/Problem solving/working collaboratively
Objective: Keeping the signal on-air 24/7: Linear Programs/channels globally
Personal fit is VITAL important
Collaborating and working with the International team
Certificates are a PLUS

Overview:
Broadcast Systems Engineer is a hands-on position responsible for maintaining the technical integrity of Cloud and On-premises broadcast playout at Origination Center. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring operational continuity of all broadcast feeds and its related infrastructure equipment and complete specific routine tasks as detailed by supervisory and management staff.
Responsibility:
- To provide technical support for all our Broadcast Services related to infrastructure, traditional playout systems, and hybrid-cloud playout systems, to ensure the highest possible levels of technical and operational continuity to all Discovery Networks and maintaining core infrastructure and system health, signal path integrity and signal quality throughout Origination Center.
- Prioritize tasks and respond to calls to quickly resolve technical issues as they arise from Master Control, Live events, Asset management and related areas.
- Understanding of signal routing control systems to route video/audio and Video -over-IP signals.
- Perform shift check routines to ensure the healthy status of the origination facility equipment.
- Compilation of Standard Operating Procedures and documentation in support of Maintenance and Operations.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and maintain superior customer service demeanor.
- Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and meet the demands of a complex work environment.
- Continuous refining of procedures, development, training, and collaboration is a key to our team success.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in Information Technology or Broadcast Media environment.
- Preferred IT certification ex. CCNA, MCP, CompTIA A+/Network+, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, VMware Associate or equivalent are also a plus.
- Basic experience with Linux, Windows OS, VMware, AWS EC2 and Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting using ubiquitous OS tools (ex. ping, trace route, netstat).
- Working knowledge of remote support tools such as RDP, VNC, Telnet, and SSH.
- Knowledge of cloud-based fundamentals and current technological offerings of vendors such as Amazon AWS is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of serial digital broadcast equipment and measurement equipment.
- Preferred understanding of broadcast automation systems. Mediator and Pharos is a plus.
- Ability to understand system drawings and signal flows. AutoCAD skills is a plus.
- Demonstrate the capability to patch around video signals and take other emergency corrective actions rapidly to maintain on-air status of television networks. Escalate to Management during high-priority incidents or during a loss of services.
- Good written and verbal communication skills needed to coordinate both within our department and between departments in various global locations.
- Ability to work any shift schedule.
