Position Summary
Under the direction of department leadership, oversees and coordinates building automation integration/installation effort across the company, including the daily operations, performance and activities of the Building Automation (BAS) section personnel. Designs, develops, and implements solutions for building automation system installations, upgrades, repairs, and change outs for HVAC, Electrical and Energy Systems. Develops written BAS design standards, reporting and policies that both comply with Erie Information Technology and Environmental and Energy policies to support the goals of the BAS operations team. Measures and reports on systems status; recommends and implements enhancements.
- This is an in-office position with hybrid flexibility,at our Corporate Office in Erie, PA.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages overall operations of designated area of authority. Interviews, hires, trains and directs personnel. Prepares and conducts performance assessments, coordinates discipline and oversees development as required.
Manages the implementation and day-to-day functions relating to building automation and energy programs by utilizing appropriate software, communications, and project management tools efficiently and effectively. Provides direction to the BAS Engineers and BAS Field Technicians. Oversees and approves all building automation designs by BAS Engineers. Ensures design meets our BAS Standards and provides proper control of mechanical/electrical equipment.
Establishes and administers proactive, preventative and predictive maintenance policies, procedures and schedules to ensure the maximum operation of the building automation systems and mechanical and electrical equipment operations.
Coordinates with departments within Corporate Services for all items relating to Building Automation. Works with other managers to provide continuity between their teams and the BAS team and to gather their requirements for building automation for each respective area.
Works with department leadership regarding the Power Monitoring System requirements, upgrades and new installations. Serves as the subject matter expert for BAS for construction of new facilities or the remodeling of existing facilities to ensure that Building Automation Standards are incorporated. Works with project Architects/Engineers to ensure BAS systems are properly designed and approves drawings and specifications. Reviews HVAC and Electrical submittals for BAS compatibility.
Coordinates vendors for BAS including any service, software or maintenance contracts. Works with Sourcing and Vendor Management to secure contracts with vendors in these areas.
Oversees the analysis of all user and system related problems and determines solutions. Coordinates problem resolution with internal technical staff and vendor's product support. Acts as a liaison between Erie's BAS Team and both vendor and internal technical staff.
Stays abreast of emerging technologies, products/services, guidelines, standards, and their applicability to potential ERIE projects and Erie's BAS systems.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, building automation, energy or closely related discipline with five-years experience directly in BAS field required; or Associate's degree in mechanical engineering, building automation, energy or closely related discipline or related field and seven-years experience directly in BAS field; or high school diploma and nine-years experience directly in BAS field.
Minimum three-years of demonstrated programming experience in the Niagara Platform, Metasys Platform or other BAS platforms required.
Advanced understanding of digital and analog signaling protocols, communications, integration, information systems and networks required. Must have understanding of mechanical systems, including central plant operations.
Previous leadership experience preferred. Certified Energy Manager designation preferred.
Some travel, with overnight stays, required. This position requires 24/7 on call availability.
