Intertek is searching for a Building Enclosure Consultant to join our Building & Constructionteam in our Greensboro, NC office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile career in Building Science Solutions!
What you'll do:
- Assist with new design consulting and peer reviews of plans and specifications for building enclosures
- Perform reviews of architectural drawings, shop drawings and submittals pertaining to the building enclosure and develop reports and other client deliverables
- Monitor field performance testing and water leakage testing of roofing and waterproofing systems, weather bariers, windows, curtain walls, and other building enclosure assemblies/systems.
- Assist with/perform construction administration services including mock-up reviews and, shop drawing reviews, and field inspections/observations. Develop reports and other client deliverables.
- Assist with/perform non-destructive and destructive forensic investigations of issues pertaining to existing building enclosures including the assessment and documentation of the existing conditions of wall assemblies, curtain wall systems, roofs, skylights, plaza waterproofing, below grade elements, and the transitions between building enclosure assemblies and systems.
- Provide recommendations for remediation of building enclosures issues though forensic investigation reports and verbal discussion with clients.
- Prepare professionally written technical reports.
- Provide comments and markups of drawings and specifications using BlueBeam.
- Develop remedial work recommendations and plans for existing building projects.
- Prepare complete construction document packages for new and restoration projects.
- Prepare accurate and concise reports for assigned projects.
- Other duties as assigned
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Engineering and/or 8+ years of verifiable industry experience
- Technical knowledge of building construction
- Technical understanding of building enclosure systems
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Field experience providing building enclosure consulting for new and existing construction
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
- Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor tasks
- Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
- Ability to efficiently work on projects independently and in a team environment
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
- Consistent and professional interaction and communication with clients and project teams
- Willingness and ability to travel outside local area, including air travel
- Sound computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD).
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
Preferred Credentials:
- Field experience with diverse building types
- Field experience with whole building airtightness testing
- Certification as a Level II or Level III IR thermographer
- ABAA-certified Field Auditor or Air Barrier Specialist
- IIBEC registrations (RRO, RRC, RWC, REWC, REWO, RBEC and/or CBECxP) or equivalent from another industry-recognized institution or organization
- Familiarity with ASTM and AAMA testing of enclosure assemblies for air and water infiltration
- Safety Training/Scaffold/Lift Certification(s)
- OSHA 30 Construction Safety Certification
- Active in professional organization(s)
