JOB SUMMARY
Job responsibilities include, but not limited to: inspections include building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, irrigation, and other inspections related to the Town’s zoning ordinances, plan review and the enforcement, interpretation, and application of building, zoning and sign codes and other Town ordinances for residential and commercial development. EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
Must have high school diploma or GED.
Must have 3 years prior experience with municipal inspections and plan review or equivalent trade related experience.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Must be bondable.
- Valid State Plumbing Inspector License Required or ability to obtain within 6 months or two (2) ICC Certifications in building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical field within 12 months of employment
- Prefer ICC Residential Combination Inspector Certification.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.
- Bilingual is a plus
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with supervisors and other personnel.
- Demonstrate a willingness to perform duties in a team environment.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of a computer.
- Skills coordinating and managing multiple projects and/or assignments.
- Must have plumbing journeyman license or experience, in order to obtain State Plumbing License

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides excellence in customer service.
- Review and approves irrigation, pool, accessory structure, additions, remodel, commercial and residential plans for zoning and code compliance.
- Consults with contractors, builders, property owners, and officials to recommend changes and provide instruction for avoidance or correction of deficiencies and violations.
- Conducts irrigation field inspections to ensure compliance with all TCEQ and code compliance.
- Performs field inspections of public and private construction and improvements for violations and/or compliance of plans, standards, specifications, regulations, permits, zoning and/or Town code ordinances; inspects, approves, and/or rejects phases of construction.
- Prepares and issues verbal warnings, violation notices, and stop work orders to construction projects not being built in compliance with Town standards and/or other applicable regulations; maintains case files regarding inspections and violations.
- Conducts inspections to determine if existing properties are being maintained in compliance with applicable codes.
- Responds to request for code interpretation and application from contractors and property owners.
- Maintains record of completed inspections, and enters results into the computer.
- Review plans and specifications, on site, to ensure construction is in accordance with Town of Little Elm approved plans.
- Attends meetings and addresses concerns of interested parties.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
