Title: Bus Driver-Full Time

Primary Function:

To safely transport passengers between assigned stops and schools, according to specified routes and time schedules. Maintains orders between trips and adheres to safety rules when loading and unloading passengers.

Qualifications:
• Is at least 21 years of age and possesses a high school diploma or GED certificateor any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Possesses a valid Virginia Commercial Driver's License.  Class B (or A) with School Bus and Passenger Endorsement.
• Meets requirements of an annual physical examination.
• Meets all other requirements of the State Board of Education for persons employed to drive a school bus.
• Submit periodically to drug testing.

Reports to: Transportation Coordinator

Performance Responsibilities:
• Performs pre-trip inspection of the school bus; reports operating and equipment deficiencies.
• Cleans bus interior and exterior.
• Fuels bus as necessary.
• Adheres to all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for school bus drivers.
• Picks up and delivers students to and from schools.
• Transports only authorized personnel.
• Reports all accidents and completes appropriate reports.
• Runs periodic emergency bus evacuation drills.
• Transports students to special events and field trips.
• Records mileage; maintains records and prepares reports as necessary.
• Maintains discipline on the bus and makes reports as necessary.
• Makes his/her bus available for scheduled maintenance and/or repairs.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned.
