Responsibilities:The Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in driving the analysis necessary to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of applications utilized by our company and its business partners. This dynamic position involves reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs to ensure alignment with strategic objectives. You will document requirements, test system functionality, define scope and objectives, and design systems that bolster essential business processes. Acting as a crucial liaison between IT and various business departments, you will facilitate collaboration and innovation.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
- Review and analyze project requests to determine impact to existing systems.
- Translate business requirements into detailed specifications for use by the IT development staff/external providers
- Analyze and document current workflows, identify opportunities to meet project objectives, business processes, and make recommendations for future approaches
- Utilize user definitions, use cases and workflow diagrams to illustrate business problems
- Lead meetings, e.g., business requirements review, testing strategy review, etc.
- Engage proactively in delivering structured presentations tailored to various levels of management, ensuring clear communication and alignment with their specific needs and expectations
- Perform system/user testing as required; analyze and validate testing results
- Provide support and guidance to other IT personnel in business requirements documentation as well as system/user testing
- Act as a reference and provide support to application users with respect to questions arising from application/functionality adoption and use
Please note this position is a hybrid role with expectations to be in-office at our Chicago IL location four days a week.
This is not a remote role.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Management Information Systems or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of two years of prior experience as a Business Analyst or in an Information Technology role, involving tasks such as requirements gathering, data analysis, and system implementation
- Experience should include process reengineering, flow charting and block diagramming, as well as, a good understanding of the desktop environment, user interface design and web architecture
- Strong skills needed in verbal and written communication, including communicating effectively with business users and software developers
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Ability to lead diverse groups of people to move towards solutions
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Familiarity or experience with Agile/Scrum Framework is a plus
- Familiarity with business rules management system, particularly FICO Blaze Advisoris a plus
- Experience in Insurance industry is preferred but not required
