Description:
Our client is actively implementing Workday in a series of phases to replace a variety of legacy systems and apps. This position provides product and project delivery support for the Information Technology Department. The IT Sr Business Analyst’s role effectively manages and facilitates discussions with internal and external stakeholders to develop a roadmap with clearly identified and documented business requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, and strategy. This ensures understanding the technology solutions needed and successfully delivering these requirements. The IT Sr Business Analyst will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to assist the business in making informed technology decisions.
Due to project timelines, no time off will be permitted during November and December 2024.
Essential Functions:
• Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
• Clearly identify project stakeholders and establish user classes, as well as their characteristics.
• Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods.
• Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
• Assume responsibility for project tasks and ensure they are completed promptly.
• Coordinate and manage small projects and work requests as needed.
• Participate in change management planning and execution activities supporting these initiatives.
• Serve as the key contact for project functional and operational knowledge management.
• Act as a self-motivated leader who builds and maintains a team, resolves conflicts, defines clear roles and responsibilities and works toward collective success.
• Manage the coordination, communication, and reporting of Business Analyst projects, guiding a BA team in developing a scope of work, schedule, and budget. Track and report on project delivery, ensuring it remains on time, on budget, and meets scope and quality expectations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Specific Workday Functions:
• Collaborate with business users, IT teams, and Workday consultants to gather and document requirements for system enhancements and new functionalities.
• Analyze current business processes and recommend improvements based on best practices within Workday.
• Configure and support Workday modules, including HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Talent Optimization, and Learning.
• Assist in testing activities, including developing test plans and scripts and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
• Prepare and deliver reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc queries using Workday reporting tools.
• Support data migration, integration, and system upgrades as required.
• Conduct training sessions and create user documentation to ensure employees successfully adopt the system.
• Stay current on Workday’s latest releases, identifying opportunities for leveraging new features and functionalities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Workday HCM.
• Strong understanding of Workday business processes, configuration, and reporting.
• Proven ability to work with large datasets and conduct data analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with requirements gathering, documentation, and workflow diagramming.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working within a project management framework.
• Practical experience creating professional-grade requirements artifacts using standard templates and processes.
• Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
• Practical experience following a standard system development lifecycle process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Tools, SharePoint, and Power BI is a plus.
• Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills (written/oral), with the ability to independently initiate and complete complex assignments.
Preferred:
• Certified Business Analyst preferred. Experience in the delivery of commercial off-the-shelf products/systems (COTS).
• Proficiency with MS SharePoint or similar document management and collaboration tools.
• Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
• Experience in the utility or energy industry.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
This is a hybrid position, working onsite in Lansing will be required several times per month on average. When working remote must have a working space free from distraction or interruption. Cameras are required
